To Sioux Falls & Back

February 21, 2005

Well, I’m on my way home from South Dakota; I went down for the weekend to be with Jenn. It takes 7 hours and 458 miles to get from Eveleth to Sioux Falls on the interstate. It wasn’t that bad thou, a guy I know from school (Seth) needed to go to Minneapolis this weekend so we carpooled. he drove from Eveleth to the cities (and stayed there), then I drove solo from the cities to Sioux falls and then back to the cities after the weekend was over. Now Seth is driving us from the cities back to Eveleth (which is giving me time to write this). This weekend Jenn is coming to Eveleth again, only this time I’m going to have her meet some people, so that should be fun. (YES, I realize that I am telling you little to nothing about Jenn… but that’s just the way it is, I’ll tell you more about her when I’m good and ready)
Aside from that, school will be over for me on April 12th and the lease on my apartment will be up on April 30th, because of that I have begun looking for a job. There’s a great opportunity in St.Cloud at freeze.com. I’d like to get that job, But if I don’t, there are 100+ openings in the cities and I can move into suburbia if I have to. In any event, I get to leave Eveleth which is a very good thing because Eveleth is the most pathetic excuse of a town I’ve ever had to experience.

WebCam

February 14, 2005

Well, after 5 days of downtime, my webcam is finally back online. turns out the fan on the processor went kaput so the processor burnt itself up. but its not all bad… if you’ve ever used my webcam in the past you may have noticed its slowness this is partially because you (no doubt) have a bad internet connection & because the computer hosting my webcam was older than dirt. SO I gave it one heck of an upgrade, it went from an AMD K6 @ 133Mhz to an AMD Duron @ 800Mhz. So if you have high speed internet you will experience extra responsive camera movement and more frames per second… and of course if you have dial-up you will see absolutely no performance difference.
YAY for my webcam.

Stuck

February 4, 2005

So, I guess since my last two paragraphs have started with the word “so”, then so can this one. Now that it’s February the sun decided to show its horrid face and do that kind-of-melt-everything thing it does where it turns the snow to slush and then kind of freezes it. Because of the stupid slush/snow stuff (and due to my lack of four wheel drive)… I got stuck in my parking lot. SO after an hour of shoveling, I was able to move my car exactly 2 feet, after another hour of shoveling I realized the car wasn’t moving again. So I went inside and gathered up a handful of quarters and about ten phone numbers of people I know around here. I walked down to the Spur station and started feeding the phone 50 cents per call. I must have called eight people, all of which were either 60 miles away or not answering their phones, before I got through to Nora. I said my car’s stuck, do you think Galen (her husband) would help me out? To which she replied, “Well, if I bring you to my house he’ll have to help you.” And 15 minutes later I was sitting on their couch watching the news, then I got a sammich (hahahaha) then at 7 Galen got there and he helped me get my car out. And for that, I paid for lunch the next day.

So, a lot happened this weekend, I just got back from going snowboarding, I must of fell like 20 times, it was great. two hours before that I was in Duluth to drop my friend off at the airport. and like a day before that I had chili… It was a trade… a ride to the airport in exchange for chili, was a good deal if you ask me. in any event, I am full, and its real food. and about a week before all that, school started again.

Roof Rack

January 1, 2005

So, Christmas was a week ago. I got a roof rack for my car, so I can tote around a snowboard (or plywood if I want to) but mostly its for a snowboard. (my car is blue but the rack is the same as the one in this picture)

I just ordered boots for the snowboard I’m using so hopefully I’ll be able to try them out soon.
Last night I went to Pam’s new years party. We stayed up all night watching movies and eating Kraig’s awesome chili. The party was awesome, I’m glad that I went.

Ainsworth Christmas Party

December 19, 2004

Last night was the Ainsworth (Potlatch) Christmas party, they held it at Fortune Bay casino off in some golf clubhouse. It went from 6PM-1AM and here is a picture of it

After the party was over I went to the casino until 4AM. In that three hour block of time I did quite a bit. I put one dollar in a slot machine and lost it, then I put another dollar in and and was able to play off of it for at least half an hour and ended up with 3.85. Then I took 45 dollars to the blackjack table. I spent about two hours there, the lowest I was down was $35 but in the end I left the table with 52.50. So altogether I made… um, let me see
(3.85-2.00)+(52.50-45.00)=9.35
hahahahaha that’s right 9.35 for three hours of hard work!!! that works out to almost 3.12 an hour!!!
finally, I was ready to go home, when I realized that I had lost my keys. Turns out I left them in the clubhouse thingy. By the time I got my keys, had the car warmed up and got home it was 6AM. Which happens to be the time I usually get up to go to work, realizing that, I know that if I got to bed now it will throw everything out of whack. Sooooo knowing that the longest that I am able to sleep is thirteen hours, I’ve decided to go to bed at 4PM. That means I’ll be getting up at 5AM and then everything should be nifty.

Another Stupid Cop

November 29, 2004

So Robbie, me and two other people went to a concert in Minneapolis we left at noon got to the cities at four. Went to the concert at five & got out at ten. Drove towards home for about half an hour and saw a taco bell so we went to the drive thru and ordered forty soft shell tacos, that’s ten tacos a piece. You see, we thought that we were really hungry. Turns out we weren’t ten-tacos-a-piece-hungry, but I ate all mine!!! Of course I got really sick about an hour and a half later, which was just about the time I was driving out of Moose lake. So my stomach hurts and I’m tired as heck cause by now its midnight, and all of a sudden, once again, out of no where comes this mean, evil, ugly city cop. Only difference, this time, I wasn’t speeding. Turns out he pulled me over for “drifting over the fog line” and this guy just pissed me right off. I mean at least the state trooper in Wisconsin was respectful. This cop had NO respect, and therefore got no respect in return. he started off by asking me if I had been drinking, which made me even more angry, so I say “of course I’ve been drinking” and took a drink out of my stale pop from Taco Bell. This in turn makes him angry so he says “do you mind if I search your car” so I said ” its midnight and I want to get home, so what happens if I say no?” to which he replied “then Ill call for a K-9 unit and a warrant to search your vehicle” but you know, I was tired and I wasn’t thinking clearly so… I just gave up and let this idiot search my car. If I would of been thinking I would of told him that me driving over the white line isn’t probable cause to search and/or seize a vehicle. well, like I said, I was tired. BUT I got my revenge, oh yes, I got my revenge. You see, while this moron was off going thru all my stuff, I wandered off behind his car and wrote “WASH ME” on his rear windshield. HAHAHAHA a day he will, no doubt, not soon forget.
So once the cop made the grand discovery that the only thing that we could get high of in the car was the gas in the tank, he let us go but not without first starting to lecture us. and this is my shining moment, I am so proud of it, the cop says “well you’re all free to go, I just want to tell you that next ti……” and before he could finish his little speech I floored it… 5000 RPMs I just smoked the guy. I hope he choked on the dust, serves him right for wasting my time.

Green Day

November 11, 2004

Alright, for the last three days I’ve been in Wisconsin, I went there for a “Green Day” concert, Which was awesome. And to visit Pam (from high skool) which was also awesome. Matt and I (Matt being the guy who I went to Wisconsin with) got a hotel to stay at, Pam only lives two blocks away from where our hotel was, so I called her and she came over. So me and Matt and Pam were watching TV and eating pizza when GENIUS struck, you see there were two beds in the hotel room so I kicked Matt off the bed and started to build… I believe I built the best fort in under five minutes than I have ever built before. So since I didn’t have a camera to capture the greatness.. I drew it up. You see I took the second bed in the room and leaned then up against the sides of the first bed to make walls then I covered the whole thing with the blankets, so it was totally dark until I turned the TV on. (I couldn’t represent the blankets in my drawing because they were on top of everything.)

So, yea, that was my awesome amazing fort in Wisconsin. Ok now for the story on the trip back, first I will say this: some people are alcoholics, some are drugoholics… I on the other hand am a speedoholic. So there I was innocently zipping down the highway at 83MPH minding my own business… and out of nowhere comes this mean, evil, ugly state trooper, I took a picture of him… see

Now as you can see he explained to me that I was going above the posted speed limit and listed the reasons why that was wrong. This verbal abuse went on for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, I was rolling my eyes so much that they almost popped out the back of my head, it was all I could do to keep from jumping out of the car window and choking him to death. Of course, his little lecture came AFTER he gave me the $230.30 ticket.

Dads Truck

November 3, 2004

Ok, dad saw how much fun it is to have a new car so he decided he needed a new vehicle too. Its been a while since dad had a truck, but this one is really nice. I don’t remember how much it cost but I do know that he got a very good deal on it. I drove dad to the cities to get it, you see the vehicle he found actually WAS where it was listed to be. but all that is unimportant, what IS important is the fact that Dale will know how to drive a manual. You see, my plan to abolish the automatic transmission from this planet is now underway. Soon after I get everyone in Minnesota to drive manual transmission vehicles, the car manufacturers will see the huge mistake they made with the so called “automatic” transmissions they produce and quit making them all together. This is my mission in life. uhhh… so, yea, here is a picture of the new truck
